Nube (Spanish for “cloud”)
is an ensemble of master musicians that exquisitely blends Contemporary Latin
American and World Music. Comprised of
guitar, harp, percussion and Andean flutes, this group fuses the dynamic sounds
of many regions to create lush musical landscapes, ever-rooted in the warmth of
South American ambience.
The breadth of this world
repertoire creates a most inviting array of textures, from rhythmic use of
strings to haunting explorations of panflutes and percussion. In a thoughtful
and at times almost mystical manner, Nube conjures the soul of South American
music, gently guiding its aerial dance with world genres straight to the heart
of the listener.

Nube, - “cloud” in Spanish-, is a eclectic ensemble
that exquisitely blends Contemporary Latin American and World Music. Co-founders Paraguayan harpist Nicolas Carter
and guitarist Renato Lombardi from Argentina fuse the dynamic rhythms of Latin
America with musical elements from around the globe creating contrasting
musical landscapes. Their soulful and
relaxing music evokes the warmth of a South American ambience.
The greater ensemble includes world percussionist
Michael Bissonnette and Andean flute player (woodwinds and pan flutes) Mario
Arroyo. The breadth of their repertoire
reveals an array of textures from the diverse string instruments they employ
which are combined with the mystical flutes and panflutes along with a variety
of percussion elements typical of the Americas.
This intimate ensemble has captivated the hearts of
their listeners throughout the upper Midwest, often receiving standing
ovations. These musicians engage
audiences in a genuine and thoughtful manner, connecting with their public via
on-stage personal exchanges. The
far-reaching talents of Nube’s members include promoting Latin American culture
through the arts and arts education. They have extensive experience in conducting workshops, demonstrating
their musical skills and cultural knowledge to community and school groups
throughout the region . These endeavors have allowed Nube to establish a good
rapport with individuals from a wide range of ages.
Nicolas Carter, Paraguayan lever harp
Nicolas Carter was raised
in Paraguay where he learned to play the harp, the national folk
instrument. He has been composing,
recording and performing harp music for 20 years and has recorded nearly a
dozen albums in the United States, Europe and South America, both as a solo
artist and with a variety of Latin American and world music ensembles. Nicolas
holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in theatre directing from the University of
Minnesota and was a Fullbright scholar in France.
Renato Lombardi, guitar
Living in the United States
since 1992, Renato Lombardi is an accomplished artist, musician and
educator. He has designed and produced
multi-media projects that included art, music, theatre and poetry. Incorporating different rhyhms and
instruments from around the Americas he has been playing with different
ensembles for more than 20 years. Renato
has recorded, arranged and produced music in Argentina and in the United
States.
Mario Arroyo, andean flutes
Mario Arroyo is a master andean flute and pan flute player, as well as a distiguished flute maker. Mario has been performing with andean ensembles from a very young age in his native Ecuador. In the 80s and 90s he toured and participated in different music events in Europe. He has recorded numerous cds and currently lives in Minnesota with his wife and a new born child.
Michael Bissonnette, percussion
Michael Bissonnette is one
of the Twin Cities premier world percussionists. He was trained in drums and classical
percussion. He delights audiences with
his vibrant, joyful personality and enormous collection of world
instruments. He performs with various
local artists like vocalist Katie McMahon, Axis Mundi and Laura MacKenzie and
has participated in many recordings.
